Donor Advised Funds

Frank: We have been blessed and provide financial support to 6 missionaries, our local church, Kim's alma mater, and some charities doing good work in our community. Some of these are affiliated with the EFCA, but most are not.

Kim: I found it particularly difficult to keep track of all the gift receipts and to make sure the checks got out on time. This important duty was up to me. While it is a joy to give, I found the actual process becoming too much of a chore.

Frank: Yeah, but we found a solution that worked for us. We opened a Donor Advised Fund through the EFCA Foundation to simplify our gift giving efforts. Now we make gifts to the EFCA Foundation to fund our designated charitable account. We gain an immediate tax deduction for each gift. We then we advise the staff there to spread out these gifts in ways that fulfill our stewardship wishes.

Kim: The EFCA Foundation cuts the checks and sends them out. We simply complete and sign a form, naming the charities, purpose, amount, and timing of the grants. The team at the EFCA Foundation does rest.

Frank: Best yet, it is now much easier make gifts of appreciated stock. One transfer to the EFCA Foundation benefits all the charitable causes we select. This is good because we have had some bad experiences in the past. Some organizations were not set up to handle gifts of stocks very well. Now we don't have to worry about that.

Kim: This really has been a great and practical solution to help us fulfill our stewardship and gifting desires. We recommend EFCA Foundation Donor Advised Funds to all our friends.
